2020 Long Range Match Schedule

Here is the JCGC 2020 LR Match Bulletin; we have monthly dates through September!!!! The first match of the year will be held on January 18-19, 2020. Due to the delay in receiving a schedule conformation from Camp Robinson this match will NOT be NRA approved and scores will not be sent to the NRA.

As usual, you will need your driver’s license, vehicle insurance card, and vehicle registration to gain access to the Post. We will shoot three-20 shot strings per day at 1000yds. We will start the match as close to 8AM as possible, entries to the match close at 0730Hrs.

Now for some comments and bitches from me:

If you can’t get out of bed in time to make it before entries close stay home, I’m tired of reworking the squadding because of no call late arrivals. Please call me if you are going to be late and I’ll gladly get you squadded; I understand that things sometimes happen.

It takes time and effort to set up before and tear down after the matches and I very much so appreciate those who assist in making that happen. To those who just show up to shoot at the last minute and leave directly after the match please find a different venue to compete; the rest of us are not doing all the labor for your amusement.

I hope that you come out and enjoys this year’s events and look forward to see each of you!

JCGC December 2019 Smallbore Results

Our last small-bore prone match for 2019 was held on a cool morning with light winds, as the day progressed the winds came up a little and the temperature not so much. Neither wind not cold would keep Fred from posting a terrific 1600-123x score for the match! Fred and Bill tied for score on the first match of the day but from there on it was Fred all the way winning every match by a considerable margin! Congratulations to Fred for closing out the 2019 SB season with an outstanding performance! Fred was followed by Bill with a 1597, Jim with a 1590, Mark with a 1586, John with a 1578, and Oscar with a 1527 shooting FTR on the difficult international target.

I would like to thank all those who turned out this year to make our small-bore prone matches a success, your dedication to our sport is what keeps the program alive. 2020 dates have been sent into the NRA, we will shoot in the 1st Saturday of each month with the exception of April (1000yd Match at Camp Robinson, we have dates!), July (July 4 Holiday), October (Missouri Mid-Range Championship), those three months we will hold our matches on the second Saturday of the month.

Our Cast Bullet matches have not seen the growth that I hoped for so this year we will mix in some different rifle combination in hopes that this will lead to some interest. John and I shot a cast bullet match after the SB match and I was able to edge him 199-13 to his 197-7 at 100yds.

I hope you and your families have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Smallbore and Cast Bullet Match Results

Attached are the results from Jefferson County Gun Club’s October and November small-bore prone matches. Once again I have failed to get these out in a timely manner, my apologies.

For our October match we had six competitors, thanks to each of you for attending! Junior competitors Caden and Connor were back and are both learning quickly, both scored above 190 on all target cards in all matches! Time for these young men to start shooting head to head with all competitors!

This month’s match was won by Fred who once again brought out the good ammo for the 100yd targets and managed to drop only one point to finish up with a 1595! Bill and Mark rounded out the adult scores for the day; Bill winning matches 1 and 2 and Fred taking matches 3 and 4.

November saw five hardy souls brave the first cool weather match for the year and try their luck against Mother Nature and her fickle winds! As seen by the scores it was a challenging day for all; Bill took the win with a 1588 followed closely by Fred, Mark, and John. George was our only F-class competitor and the winds really worked him over on that tiny target but he stayed with it and done well; It was windy enough that no competitor shot a clean match the entire day. Bill won Match 1 with a 399, Fred took Match 2 with a 397. Mark won Match 3 with a 398, and Fred came back to take Match 4 with a 396 narrowly edging Bill with x’s.

After the November SB match John Wallis thoroughly whipped yours truly in the Cast Bullet match 196 to 193; Good shooting John!!!

John and I are discussing next year’s cast bullet match format and considering some changes. Instead of prone target rifle every month we are considering mixing in some military rifle, sporting rifle, handgun, perhaps an offhand match, etc. Prone events could be limited to the cooler months while the warmer weather could be dedicated to bench competition. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks again for coming out to shoot!
